Barcelona attacker Antoine Griezmann insists he and Lionel Messi are good friends.

Speaking with former Real Madrid GM Jorge Valdano, Griezmann spoke of his relationship with the Argentine.

He insisted: "There may have been comments contrary to me in the dressing room or in the press for having rejected the club before, but he wanted to fix it on the field.

"I spoke with him when I arrived and he told me that it screwed him up and it hurt him that I didn't sign the previous year because he had made public comments praising me.

"But he also said that he will go to the death with me because I am on his team."
