Thomas Gravesen was delighted to make a winning return for Everton in last week's UEFA Cup victory over Larissa.
It was his first game back at Goodison following his return to Everton on a season-long loan from Celtic and Gravesen told evertonTV: "I thought the fans were fantastic - they always are. I didn't expect anything less from these fans.
"It is a good start for us (in the group) and that was really important. It was important to get the win in the first game.
"When you look on paper at this squad there is so much potential.
"We just need a little more time to gel, I know there isn't much time with so many games coming, but with more games together there are some fantastic players all around. We have international players like Andy and Joleon and maybe Bainesy in the future which shows the steps we have taken in the last couple of years. It is very good."
