Liverpool chief Mike Gordon offered Jurgen Klopp as much money as he wanted to stay at the club.
The German manager informed FSG and Gordon in November about his decision to quit at the end of the season.
While they were entirely supportive, FSG did make an attempt to convince Klopp to change his mind.
Per the Liverpool Echo, the two are said to have a very positive relationship, which has continued into this season.
Klopp is leaving the club entirely due to his personal decision, as he wishes to take time away from management.
The Reds will be hoping they can give their head coach the ideal send off this season.
