Valencia sports chief Fernando Gomez was pleased to see the summer market close with David Villa, David Silva and Juan Mata still at the Mestalla.

"Villa and Silva are so important for us because Villa is a player completely adapted to what Valencia is all about, with a great sporting relationship on the field with those who play around him," said Gomez.

"His goals are key to the team and Villa has an important strike rate.

"Silva and Mata will be among the best players in the Spanish League and surely it would have been very difficult to replace them as well."
