Gomes excited about Tottenham home debut

Heurelho Gomes is looking forward to making his Tottenham home debut against Sunderland this Saturday.

The Brazilian goalkeeper told the Spurs website: "My first game at The Lane wasn't even a league game, but the atmosphere against Roma was unbelievable. I hope it will be the same for Sunderland.

"The same goes for the travelling support for the game against Middlesbrough, which was great for the team and very important for our confidence.

"I know it will be a difficult game against Sunderland, but we play to win at home and the fans will be behind us, so we have every chance of a win."

On his introduction to Premier League football, Gomes added: "Goalkeepers only stop the ball, but I could tell the quality of the opposition was of a very high level, and this requires a lot of concentration from the goalkeeper.

"The football is played at a very high pace and is also very technical, and I'm in no doubt that it's the best in the world."
