Gomes delighted at finding form with Tottenham

Tottenham goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes has revealed how he never wanted to leave the club, even when things were going against him and is now delighted after finding form at a great club.

The Brazilian also attributed his change of fortune to Spurs manager Harry Redknapp.

"Following this season I am still under contract for three years," Gomes told Voetbal Zone.

"At no time have I asked to leave, even when Carlo Cudicini was signed.

"It is a privilege to play for a club like Tottenham. My goal with Tottenham is to play in the Champions League.

"It is time for a club with such a wonderful history to play in the most important club competition in the world.

"The confidence of Harry from the outset has been crucial. He defended me in public when I was criticised," added the former Cruzeiro keeper.

"I am very grateful to him, he is not someone who continually makes jokes with his players. He leaves many of those tasks to his assistants. He has more focus on the group, how the selection should be put together. Winning the FA Cup was an excellent performance."
