New A-League clubs Gold Coast United and North Queensland Fury met in a pre-season trial at Gold Coast's Skilled Park last night.

The home side scored two late goals to take out the match 2-0 despite a determined effort from the Fury.

Former Melbourne Victory player Steve Pantelidis netted in the 85th minute to break the deadlock before Steve Lustica sealed the win with an injury-time tap-in.

Both teams were without most of their big name players as the coaches preferred to use youth players and trialists.
