Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Mau Kone is out of France's U21 Euros campaign.

L'Equipe says after undergoing scans in Cluj, it was revealed he sprained his knee with trauma to the patella after tests.

It means Kone is out of the Georgia tournament.

Further, it is a blow for Gladbach which had planned to sell Kone this summer.

Liverpool and Manchester United were among clubs interested in the youngster.
