Girona, Sampdoria move for Man City U23 coach Maresca

Manchester City U23 coach Enzo Maresca could be on the move this summer.

Indeed, the Italian could move within City's international club network, reports Italian transfer expert Nicolo Schira via Sport-Express.

Schira says Manchester City's Spanish satellite club Girona are keen on Maresca, but aren't alone.

Sampdoria are also interested in Maresca after it was confirmed Claudio Ranieri is leaving with the Serie A season now over.

Former Italy midfielder Maresca held talks with Celtic about the manager's job a fortnight ago.

He only took charge of City's Elite Development Squad last year and such has been his impact that Maresca has attracted top managerial interest from across Europe. Should he take the Samp job, it would mean a return to management in Italy, where he kicked off his coaching career with Ascoli.

This season, Maresca successfully guided his U23 Manchester City squad to title success in the Premier League 2 competition
