Giovani dos Santos was delighted with his goal for Tottenham in the UEFA Cup last night.

The Mexican told the Spurs website: "It feels great to score my first Spurs goal and I'm very happy. It was a big goal for me, my family and my fans.

"I've been working very hard and I was pleased with my performance overall, so I just have to keep that going now. That's the only way to go about it.

"I gave 100 per cent out there and that's what I try to give every time I go out on the pitch.

"I was pleased with the goal and the reaction of the fans."

The only disappointment for 'Gio' is that his goal was not enough to keep us in Europe, and he added: "It was a difficult game but we had a young team and we did everything we could to get through.

"We just have to be happy with the effort we put in and take that forward into future games."
