David Ginola has paid tribute to Justin Edinburgh after he passed away on Saturday.
Leyton Orient manager Edinburgh passed away on Saturday at the age of 49 – the same age Ginola was when he suffered a cardiac arrest back in 2016.
In the wake of the tragic news, the Frenchman spoke fondly of his old friend and Tottenham teammate and the impact Edinburgh had on his life.
"It is terrible news," he told BBC 5Live. "He's the kind of person you meet in your life and you fall in love with the character, with the person he was. He was supporting me on the football pitch being left back, all the memories are coming back now.
"My thoughts go to the family. I spoke to him some months ago about becoming a manager. I'm deeply shocked. He was always doing the hard work on the football pitch, especially when you're playing alongside a player like me, he had to do double the work. He was always the first one to have a laugh.
"It's a thing you can't describe, it's very personal. There's a few people that stick in your brain when you leave football. I don't have many football friends, but Justin was one of them and we called recently. I can count on two hands how many friends I have from that time, and he was one of them."
