Gillingham delighted for Wolves winger Jarvis over England call

Gillingham boss Andy Hessenthaler is delighted for Wolves winger Matt Jarvis over his England call-up.

Hessenthaler handed Jarvis his professional debut during his first spell in charge of the Kent club in 2003.

He told talkSPORT: "We're delighted for him. It won't change him; he's that type of lad. He'll keep his feet on the ground.

"Fortunately we were able to pick him up from Millwall and we nurtured him through, gave him his first pro contract, and then he got in the first team at a young age. Matt's progression has been tremendous.

"Hand on heart I never thought he could go on to play for England. Premiership I thought he had every chance if he could progress. That just shows you how much work the lad has put in to get to that level so full credit to him."
