Gill, Ferguson involved in Man Utd statement after Hargreaves attack

Manchester United's statement in response to Owen Hargreaves' criticism of the medical staff involved key powerbrokers.

Former United midfielder Hargreaves - now at Manchester City - claimed this week that a series of injections administered during his time at Old Trafford left him feeling like a 'guinea pig' and like he had knees 'made of glass'.

United released a statement last night refuting the claims.

The Daily Mail says along with manager Sir Alex Ferguson, chief executive David Gill and club doctor Steve McNally were also consulted before the statement's release.
