Ghana hero Gyan over the moon after England equaliser

Ghana's star striker Asamoah Gyan was clearly delighted after helping his nation to a 1-1 friendly draw with England at Wenmbley last night.

The Sunderland favourite, with some assistance from the brilliant Ghanaian fans, lit up the famous London venue with an injury-time equaliser in his country's first-ever meeting with the Three Lions and said he felt some redemption after he missed a penalty in Ghana's World Cup quarter-final with Uruguay last year.

"I count myself lucky. I really thank God for that," Gyan said.

"I dedicate this goal to the fans because they have been waiting for this game for so long and finally it happens and I scored an important goal for the country - something historic.

"I'm the happiest guy because it's my first time playing at Wembley. It's been my dream to play at Wembley.

"The Ghanaians have been waiting for this game for quite a long time.

"We've been playing so many friendly games and they've been asking themselves, 'Why are we not playing against England?'

"We had a chance against England and we scored an important goal.

"This goal is dedicated to the fans."
