Luis Suarez has revealed that Steven Gerrard asked him if he wanted to take penalty honours in Sunday's All-Star charity game at Anfield.
Gerrard's XI drew 2-2 with Jamie Carragher's XI in the LFC Foundation match which saw past and present Liverpool greats grace the pitch alongside current day and former stars from other clubs.
Mario Balotelli and Didier Drogba gave Team Carragher a two-goal lead before a couple of penalties, both converted by Gerrard, allowed his side to claw their way back.
Barcelona striker Suarez, who left Anfield last summer, was offered the chance to score the second of the spot kicks but admits he left the task to the man who will end his lifelong love affair with the Merseyside club when he leaves for the LA Galaxy at the end of the season.
"Steven asked me (about taking the second penalty) because he's a very nice person," said the Uruguayan.
"It's important when a player comes back after a few months to score a goal but for me it is not important because the day is for him."
