Zoltan Gera was sorry to see Roy Hodgson leave West Bromwich Albion.
The 33-year-old ace is also expecting a fiercely-competitive pre-season, with the players looking to impress whoever Hodgson's replacement as head coach will be.
He told the WBA website: "It's a shame he's left - but it is great for him and the club as well because the West Brom head coach has been chosen to manage the country.
"It's good for Roy, he deserves the chance, and hopefully he will do well with England.
"It will be difficult to find another good head coach.
"But I'm sure the directors and chairman will pick the right man because the last few head coaches were the right men, so I don't worry about it.
"I think all the players will be more motivated because of the new head coach."
