Genoa deny owing money to Portsmouth for Boateng

Genoa have hit back at accusations that they still owe Portsmouth money for Kevin-Prince Boateng. The midfielder joined Genoa over the summer before being immediately loaned out to AC Milan.

But Portsmouth have claimed they are still awaiting payment of the transfer fee, with the first instalment due a fortnight ago.

"Genoa paid the first and also the second instalment for the player," the club's chief executive Alessandro Zarbano told Ansa.

"It's true that there has been a little delay on the first one, but not due to Genoa.

"The explanation of what happened is very simple. In the invoice Portsmouth had not indicated all the bank dates and the contract was incomplete.

"Indeed we have already paid in advance of ten days the second instalment that was due to expire on October 5."
