Genoa have announced an agreement with Bordeaux midfielder Fernando Menegazzo.

It will be a return to Serie A for the Brazilian, who had already played for Siena, but found his feet as a player in Ligue 1.

"Yesterday we reached an agreement with Menegazzo and now I don't think it will be a problem to sort out the final details with Bordeaux," announced President Enrico Preziosi.

"As for the rest, we need to do something in defence, but for the moment we're just looking round at what's available.

"There will not be such an impressive January transfer window, because there isn't much money around to make investments. Everyone will try to fix their squad on the cheap."
