Genoa coach Gian Piero Gasperini hailed victory over Inter Milan.
Gasperini was delighted, having endured a bitter previous split from Inter.
He said: "The thing that satisfies me the most is to see how this Genoa is expressing my style of football. We had other great years, like the time we finished fourth with 68 points.
"In this case it feels special because we really bonded and did not expect to achieve these results. Even after changing many players in January, the newcomers all got straight into it.
"As the season went on, we've earned more credibility in the media with more spectacular football, even though we actually got more points in the first half of the campaign."
