Valencia are targeting Barcelona midfielder Riqui Puig.

With Rino Gattuso in line to replace coach Jose Bordalas, a move for Puig is being prepared by VCF.

Sport says Gattuso is already discussing the remodelling of the squad that needs to be undertaken and one of his priorities to bring in the Barcelona midfielder Puig next season.

Valencia and owner Peter Lim have an excellent relationship with Barça through agent Jorge Mendes' mediation. In fact, a few weeks ago it was sacked president Anil Murthy who met with Barça chief Joan Laporta to explore possible deals this summer.

Lots of names came up, including Valencia duo Jose Luis Gaya and Carlos Soler, but one of the petitions from Los Che was for Puig and Martin Braithwaite.

With the arrival of Gattuso, that interest in Puig will increase.
