Sunderland midfielder Craig Gardner admits they had little to offer in defeat at Everton.

Everton thrashed Sunderland 4-0 yesterday.

"The game got away from us after the first goal went in and it was a tough one," Gardner admitted to SAFC-TV.

"We've had two games in three days and everyone is feeling it, but so have Everton so that's not an excuse.

"Everton are a good team but we looked tired. They deserved to win."
