Garcia pleased with Roma win over Fiorentina

AS Roma coach Rudi Garcia was delighted with a 2-0 opening day victory over Fiorentina.

Radja Nainggolan and Gervinho struck for the Giallorossi.

"What counts is that at the end we scored the second goal. It certainly would've been better if it had arrived earlier, but the team played well, especially in the first half," Garcia told Sky Sport Italia.

"Let's not forget we were playing against Fiorentina, who specialise in possession, yet we kept the ball for the first hour.

"The players worked hard when attacking and defending. Babacar is quick and ran into space, so I'm happy that even Kostas Manolas immediately settled into our style of football. We were aggressive in the first half and won back the ball quickly.

"It's good to know, as we had so little time to work on him in training. Is that it for our defence? No, it's possible we will bring in another player.

"With Fiorentina's diamond midfield you need to be patient and pass the ball around to find space, so I asked the team for patience. I saw Roma confident in the first hour and in control of the game."
