Fulham skipper Murphy: Man City lack title winning spine

Fulham captain Danny Murphy has told Manchester City to forget about the title this season.

Last week's 0-0 draw with Birmingham left them fourth in the table, six points adrift of leaders Chelsea.

Murphy told The Sun: "The big problem now for Mancini is keeping all those players happy. No matter how much money is put in, those players are going to want to be playing. You can't keep that many egos happy.

"I don't think City will be title contenders because they have had too many new players at once. Obviously they've got quality but it does take time.

"They could blow everyone away, but I doubt it.

"It's the first time we've really had this situation since Chelsea when they bought all those players after the arrival of Roman Abramovich.

"But Chelsea's squad is probably smaller than City's now.

"Manchester United and Chelsea have a backbone of experience.

"You only have to look at players such as Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs at Old Trafford - you can't buy experience, you just can't.

"You need a spine in a team and City have changed their players so much I don't think they have that."
