Fulham's Schwarzer not about to end Australia career

Australia goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer says he is not going to walk away from the game at international level.

The Fulham custodian broke the Socceroos' record for most caps, surpassing Alex Tobin's 87, in the losing Asian Cup final on Saturday but the disappointment of going down to Japan will only spur him on.

"There's obviously a lot of emotion and a lot of major disappointment," Schwarzer said Australia's extra-time loss.

"You don't want to make any rash decisions, you don't want to make any rash calls at this stage. You want to let it all sink in, pick yourself up, dust yourself off and try to learn from it as much as you can.

"I have no plans to stop at all.

"I would have much preferred to have won the tournament and broken the record later on, but it wasn't to be," he added.

"We pushed and pushed and tried. We had a number of chances, we didn't take advantage of our chances.

"They had one real decent chance and scored. That's cost us in the end. That's the way football can be sometimes."
