Fulham keeper Schwarzer admits missing Arsenal move did hurt

Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer admits it hurt missing out on a January move to Arsenal.

Arsenal tried to sign the 38-year-old Aussie a year ago but refused to meet the £5million asking price.

That denied Schwarzer a chance to play in the Champions League and challenge for the title - but he refused to sulk.

"Was it a test for me? Without a doubt," said Schwarzer. "It is always a big test when there is speculation and an ongoing saga.

"What you have to do is get your head down and do your job. I showed that I could do that. I am an employee of Fulham and I have always said I love playing for this club."
