Fulham are eyeing Aston Villa fullback Matt Lowton.

The Daily Mail says Martin Jol will face competition from Arsenal, who have watched the versatile 23-year-old extensively in recent weeks, but is willing to offer around £5million for the former Sheffield United full-back.

Lowton's performances have been a rare bright spot for Paul Lambert's side this season and his future at Villa Park depends on whether Villa stay up.

His displays have alerted Arsenal scouts in recent weeks but Fulham's interest is at a more advanced stage putting them in pole position.
