Fulham skipper Danny Murphy was not bothered by the manner in which his side recorded a narrow 1-0 win over Newcastle United on Wednesday night.
The Cottagers fought their way to victory thanks to a 68th minute Damien Duff strike, following up their 4-0 hammering of Tottenham in the FA Cup on the weekend.
The win put Fulham up to 12th on the table to ease a bit of pressure and the result was well-received by Murphy who was the architect of Duff's winner.
"Without making excuses we had a tough game at Anfield last week and against Tottenham on Sunday, and to keep churning out performances is difficult. But in the second half we turned it around a bit," he told Sky Sports 2.
"We were a bit flat and Sunday's win over Tottenham was such a fantastic display that there is a danger you think it will happen again.
"But also credit to Newcastle, they showed great spirit after a tough few days, losing their best player.
"But we have played better recently and lost games so we were due a scrappy win."
