Fulham boss Silva slams match officials after Man City defeat

Fulham boss Marco Silva was upset with the match officials after defeat at Manchester City.

City won 5-1 with Erling Haaland scoring a hat-trick.

Silva said: "Of course, they scored first but it was an important moment when we equalised so quickly. That was a corner that we had planned and it's really important for the players to put things they learn from training onto the pitch. It gives them more belief.

Asked about City's questionable goal before the break, he added: "There are so many better things to talk about, but we are going to have to talk about that decision and I understand why. That moment made a huge impact on the game and I thought our first half was really, really good. The players stuck with the plan and they executed it.

"I told the players at half-time not to lose focus because of decisions we can't control, but of course, that did make a huge impact. Even with all the explanations we received it still doesn't make sense.

"Everyone that has played football and knows about football knows that they should have disallowed that goal. He's in an offside position and it's clear that he is in the line of the ball. That influenced our goalkeeper and it's clear to see."

The manager concluded: "We have to stick together and try to do as well as we did last season. It's going to be really competitive again and we always want to be a tough side to play against."
