Fulham boss Martin Jol wants a midfield signing to replace Danny Murphy.

Jol revealed he thought he had agreed terms with Murphy over a new one-year contract, only for Blackburn to hijack the move at the 11th hour.

"I was sad that Danny went," Jol told the Fulham Chronicle. "We agreed terms then Blackburn offered him two years. That happened within one or two hours so I was not happy with that.

"I wish him all the best because he was a great servant for this club and I wanted to keep him.

"Diarra can play that role and Dickson [Etuhu] is still here, but we're certainly looking for one midfield player."
