Fulham boss Roy Hodgson was delighted with Chris Smalling's performance in defeat to Chelsea.

Smalling was outstanding last night, though conceded an own goal in the 2-1 loss.

Hodgson was full of praise for the England U21 international after the match.

"I thought his performance was excellent and he deserves an awful lot of credit," he said.
