Frustrated Palmeiras end Andrey Santos talks with Chelsea

Palmeiras have ended talks with Chelsea over a deal for Andrey Santos.

The London Evening Standard says the Blues insisted on a £1.3million break clause that could allow the 18-year-old to return to Stamford Bridge for pre-season this summer, while Santos also wanted to play at the Under-20 World Cup for Brazil in May.

Having been unable to secure him for the full season, Palmeiras became frustrated with the conditions placed on them and have now withdrawn from talks.

Chelsea have shown they have high hopes for Santos and want him to have a quick pathway into Graham Potter's first team.

They want to have easy access to recall Santos in the future but are now left with just Vasco da Gama, the youngster's former club, willing to agree to those terms for a loan.

Having had interest from several other Brazilian giants in the Copa Libertadores, the equivalent of the Champions League in South America, including the likes of Internacional, Chelsea may have to send Santos to a lesser team to enforce their preferred terms.
