French sensation Karim Benzema is back in the sights of Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Sunday Times says United are ready to abandon their pursuit of Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov after being quoted £38 million for his transfer.

Relations between the clubs, and Ferguson and Spurs chairman Daniel Levy particularly, have only worsened over the past seven days and Ferguson is now exploring other possibilities, with Samuel Eto'o, Roque Santa Cruz, David Villa and Karim Benzema under consideration.
