French police source comments on 'extortion attempt' against Juventus ace Pogba

French police sources are commenting on the case involving Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba.

After threats to reveal all from older brother Mathias this week, Pogba and his management team released a statement confirming they had taken the case to local police amid claims of extortion.

Today, L'Equipe reports former Manchester United midfielder Pogba confided that he had been trapped in particular by childhood friends and two hooded men armed with assault rifles. The group demanded 13 million euros from him and have intimidated him several times since.

But according to the latest revelations from RMC Sport, due to the non-payment of the 13 million euros demanded, Pogba would have been forced to accept the permanent presence at his side of a certain person named 'Babacar'. In April, he would have even given 100,000 euros to this individual.

It's claimed there is a USB key which would contain revelations on the business. In addition, the threats against the Juve midfielder allegedly took place in a Parisian apartment, at the same time as France played two friendly matches against Côte d'Ivoire (2 -1, March 25) and South Africa (5-0, March 29).

“What seems already established is that he helped out his childhood friends from time to time. And there is no reason to doubt the facts denounced, in particular on the extortion attempt. But all this does not fly very high," assured an investigator from the national brigade for the repression of banditry and trafficking (BNRBT).
