Frank De Boer has revealed the reasons why he rejected the chance to manage Liverpool.
The Dutchman was pursued by the Reds back in 2012 but opted to remain in his role as Ajax boss as he was only new to the job with his boyhood club.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, De Boer said: “I would love to manage here, but the project has to be right.
“I told Liverpool I was honoured but I was only one year in at Ajax, it was too soon.
“I needed to achieve more, and I did."
De Boer ended up winning a total of four Dutch Eredivisie titles with Ajax before a short stint with Inter Milan which ended in November last year.
