Fran Escriba has renewed his contract with Villarreal.

The coach will be in charge of the Yellow Submarine next season.

The 52-year-old took over at Estadio de la Ceramica on a one-year deal just days before the beginning of last season after Marcelino's sudden departure and he is just one win away from confirming further European football for the club, while he has also coached the Yellow Submarine to LaLiga's second best defensive record.

Club president Fernando Roig announced the extension on Cope Castellon radio station on Tuesday and the club will shortly make an official announcement.
