Former Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has seen his close friend Terry Connor appointed as his successor and with it a continued interest in the Midlanders fortunes. McCarthy is hoping his former assistant proves successful in his efforts, with it his opinion that Connor boasts all the attributes required to be a top coach.
"But he is a really close family friend now, both himself and his wife are great pals. I have had even more of an interest in it, watching it and wishing him well, because I'd like to see him do well.
"We've had a great partnership together. His coaching is excellent, he puts fantastic sessions on.
"His approach to the game, I would say is similar to mine but not identical. We discussed everything, he has his ideas on his football. He's a good coach and a great lad." "If Terry had left and they had appointed somebody new, I wouldn't have had such a vested interest in it," he told Sky Sports News HD.
