Sunderland are yet to make contact with Sam Allardyce regarding their managerial vacancy.
The former West Ham United boss has emerged as potential target for the Black Cats in the wake of Dick Advocaat's resignation on the weekend but so far, the Wearside club have not spoken to Allardyce or his representatives.
According to Sky Sports, Allardyce is high on a shortlist for the Stadium of Light job along with Burnley's Sean Dyche and ex-Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson while Manchester City Elite Development Squad boss Patrick Vieira and Michael Laudrup, formerly of Swansea City, have also been mentioned.
At this stage, however, Sunderland have not been in contact with 60-year-old former Bolton, Newcastle United and Blackburn Rovers gaffer Allardyce as they continue their search for Advocaat's successor.
