Former West Bromwich Albion head coach Alan Irvine has emerged as a surprising candidate in the running for the Rangers job.
The Daily Express claims that the 58-year-old is one of the names under consideration as Rangers look to fill the vacant position following Mark Warburton's recent departure.
Irvine is currently working as an assistant to Alex Neil at Championship side Norwich City having spent last season at Blackburn Rovers.
He has previously worked as assistant to David Moyes at Preston North End and Everton as well as taking the head Preston job in 2007, prior to a stint at Sheffield Wednesday, back to Everton in a youth role, and then landing the Albion job in 2014.
The likes of Frank De Boer, Alex McLeish, Billy Davies, Derek McInnes, Alan Pardew and Tommy Wright have also been linked with the job at Ibrox.
