Former Tottenham, Blackburn, QPR defender Chimbonda to quit English football

Pascal Chimbonda is unlikely to continue his career in England after finishing an unhappy spell with promoted QPR.

The 32-year old Frenchman departed Blackburn Rovers for Loftus Road in January this year but was hardly used by R's boss Neil Warnock during his stay.

Chimbonda, who counts Wigan Athletic, Tottenham and Sunderland as some of his former clubs, told L'Equipe that he is looking to move on from rainy England.

"I've only played two matches in six months; it did not give me a desire to stay," he said.

"Today, I study some offers, but nothing says that I will continue here [in England]. It has been nearly seven years since I move to England and I need a little more sun. It rains often here!

"I train hard with a physical trainer in the meantime. I do not care. The desire is there. This weekend, I attended the first edition of the Marracup in Marrakech, and I'm in shape! I wait patiently. I'm still young."
