Former Parma coach Beretta takes charge of PAOK

Italian coach Mario Beretta has taken charge of Greece's PAOK.

Former Chievo and Parma coach Beretta has penned a two-year contract and will be accompanied by assistant manager Massimiliano Canzi, fitness coach Paolo Lazzarin and goalkeeping coach Giorgio Rocca.

"Beretta has his own specific philosophy of football and we wanted to combine that with our own," explained Vice-President Zissis Bryza.

"I am very happy to be the new Coach of PAOK," added Beretta. "I am enthusiastic and proud to be working with such a big club.

"I'd like to thank PAOK for coming to Italy and calling me in for their Champions League qualification. We will try to get through to the group phase.

"Greek football is on the ascendancy, as we saw when Panathinaikos knocked Roma out of the Europa League."
