Former Man Utd boss Atkinson compares Depay to Real Madrid ace Ronaldo

Ron Atkinson was impressed by Memphis Depay in Manchester United's 3-1 win over Club Brugge on Tuesday night.

The Dutch winger score two goals and provided an assist for Marouane Fellaini as the Red Devils defeated the Belgian club in the first leg of their Champions League qualifying play-off.

Ex-United boss Atkinson compared the £25million summer signing with a former Old Trafford great, suggesting that perhaps Depay could go on to be a bonafide star of the famous club.

"I remember seeing Cristiano Ronaldo here as a young player and I think Memphis has got something similar," he told MUTV.

"His two goals came from cutting inside from the left and he's got a great strike. He will be a real crowd-pleaser here at Old Trafford. I'm impressed by him."
