Spanish veteran Sergio Ballesteros has received a one-year offer from Chicago Fire.
The 37-year old centre-back is available on a free transfer after finishing up with Levante recently and could be on his way to MLS.
Reports suggest that Ballesteros says he will either continue his career in the USA or announce his retirement prompting the Fire to go after him as they seek a replacement for German defender Arne Friedrich who retired last month.
It is also believed that New York Cosmos, who are preparing for their first season back in the North American Soccer League, are also keen on Ballesteros who has also played for Tenerife, Rayo Vallecano, Villarreal and Mallorca.
