Dino Zoff has backed the appointment of Edy Reja as new Lazio coach.

The Biancocelesti formally announced Reja's appointment yesterday after Claudio Lotito decided to call time on Davide Ballardini.

Former Lazio coach Zoff said: "I think he is the right man. He is my fellow countryman and we know each other very well.

"Edy is an experienced trainer who can give tranquility and compactness, which is exactly what Lazio need right now.

"He is accustomed to working in big places. Just look at his time at Napoli, so he won't let a city like Rome get to him."
