Former Everton star Sigurdsson closer to playing return

Former Everton star Gylfi Sigurdsson may be ready to come back to the sport in the coming weeks.

The 33-year-old, who left Everton in June 2022 at the expiry of his contract, could be set for a playing return.

Sigurdsson, who faced legal issues that were eventually dropped by the CPS in England, is a free agent.

Lyngby manager Freyr Alexandersson has hinted that Sigurdsson could sign for the Danish Superliga team.

He told Bold: "There is always hope.

"We are in good dialogue with Gylfi, so right now I'm optimistic that it can happen.

"But right now there is nothing in place. So we just have to give him a few weeks so he can work on those things in relation to his body.

"So let's look at it within two/three weeks."
