Ali Karimi has looked at the possibility of returning to the Iran national team after being banned from the team over a year ago.
The 2004 Asian Player of the Year was banned for criticising the Iranian Football Federation but is on the verge of making a comeback after reports suggested he has met with national coach Ali Daei.
"As of now there are many good players who play for Iran who have so far played very well, but since I have recovered from injury and considering the current circumstances if I'm invited I'll play for Team Melli to the best of my ability," Karimi said according to Tehran agency ISNA.
"If the Iranian side is to qualify for the 2010 World Cup, a professional program is required.
"I am ready to serve the Iranian national soccer team because I have always loved my country."
