Forest raid Man City, Wigan for new data experts

Nottingham Forest are making a lot of personnel changes behind the scenes.

The Premier League club have a new-look data and analysis department to assist their first team coaches.

Sam Astley has been appointed head of first-team analysis, arriving from Manchester City.

He replaces Tom Corden, who wrote this goodbye on LinkedIn: “If you said to me 6 years ago when I started as an academy intern at Nottingham Forest FC that I'd be part of the team that brought the club back to the Premier League and help them stay there I probably would've just laughed!

“A huge thank you to all the managers, coaches, support staff that have helped me along the way and been there to share some unforgettable memories with that will last a lifetime!

“What a ride of ups and downs, sacrifices and long hours but now it's time for family to come first! I can't wait to get started as a full time lecturer in Performance Analysis at the University of Worcester and pass on what I've learnt to the next generation of analysts!"

Forest have also brought in Adam Smith as tactical analyst, who spent nine years at Wigan Athletic.
