The Portuguese coach could be in line for a Premier League job at Nottingham Forest.
Rob Dorsett from Sky Sports has reported that Santo has held talks with Forest already.
The City Ground club have sacked manager Steve Cooper.
Owner Evangelos Marinakis is unhappy at the team's poor form that has seen them slide down the Premier League table.
Aside from the bottom three clubs, Forest appear to be in the most danger of relegation at present.
