Florent Sinama-Pongolle has spoken of the popularity of Liverpool in Asia.
Sinama-Pongolle signed for the Merseyside giants in 2001 from French side Le Havre.
Speaking to So Foot having linked up with Thai club Chainat Hornbill, Sinama-Pongolle said: “I arrived at the airport discreetly because nothing was done, but once I signed, people started talking about me.
"In Thailand, you have to know that there are two hugely popular clubs: Manchester United and Liverpool.
"All the restaurants show the Premier League, its impressive.
"Even if I've struggled in the past, I've got a certain status here because I played for Liverpool.
"In the streets, I get asked for selfies and people even speak to me about my years at Liverpool."
