Manchester United's priority will remain the Premiership title next season.
"The manager would have wanted to have won it more than once and getting to a few semis will have frustrated him.
"It was disappointing to lose to AC Milan but they played well.
"In fact, I can't remember ever seeing opponents that pumped up while we couldn't get going.
"But we'd like to win the lot next season to show we can compete to the end in all of the cup competitions and the league.
"And to do that you need a big squad and good team spirit. We'll have that at Old Trafford next season."
