Udinese midfielder Gaetano D'Agostino admits he rejected an offer from Napoli to sign with Fiorentina.
The 27-year-old moved to Tuscany last week in a co-ownership deal with Udinese.
"I have chosen Florence, preferring it to Naples, because I dreamed of coming to live and play in this city and because I hope to succeed in this shirt and return to the national team," D'Agostino said.
"I wanted to participate in the World Cup. Now I want to do well in Florence to return to the Italy squad and participate in the European Championship.
"Gilardino and Montolivo have called me. They welcomed me and I asked them to stay here so we can have a great season together."
Fiorentina director of sport, Pantaleo Corvino, said: "I believe that I have signed the best there is in this position just as Mihajlovic asked."
